ALTAR SERVING

The Ministry of Altar Servers consists of boys and girls in fifth grade and up, who assist in parish liturgical celebrations. Altar servers assist the priest in the celebration of the Mass so the ceremony is conducted with grace and reverence. They assist the celebrant by lighting the candles, dressing the altar, carrying the processional cross, carrying the incense, holding the books, and with a variety of other tasks during the liturgy. They perform their duties with honor and with respect, reflecting the true presence of Christ in the Mass. Besides school Masses, altar serving also offers other opportunities in which to assist the priest and deacon, such as weddings and funerals.
Mission: To involve young children in serving Jesus by assisting the priest at Mass and other liturgies.
