ADMISSION POLICY

The Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese are supported by all Catholics, and by the parents of those children of other religions who attend them as space permits. Therefore, it has been and remains, the policy of the Archdiocese to follow a pattern of open admission. Thus, all schools are open first to Catholic children within a parish, then to Catholic children outside the parish and then to all other children.

Holy Family Grade School has limited space. Therefore, it is our policy to accept first those families who are registered parishioners who practice their faith and contribute to the church with their time, talent and treasure.

Considering the above, the acceptance policy is as follows:

  • Brothers and sisters of those already in Holy Family Grade School (registered, practicing, contributing parishioners – time, talent and treasure)
  • Registered, practicing and contributing parishioners of Holy Family in Glendale
  • Non-registered parishioners
  • Non-parishioners

Those applying take a placement test and submit required records. No student is admitted without the required medical records. Those students applying for grades two through eight submit a copy of their most recent report card. Conduct and effort must be satisfactory.

We are now using the California mandated age required for Kindergarten.

Children entering Kindergarten need to be five years old by December first of the school year. Age alone does not mean the child is accepted. A readiness test is given by the Kindergarten teacher to assess the child’s readiness for our Kindergarten.

Children entering grade one need to be six years old by December first of the school year. Applicants for every grade take a test.
