Academic Excellence at HFGS
Main Coach Ofelia Ruta has reported that the ALA, Academic League and Ambassadors program awarding of HFGS held on Monday, March 28th was an occasion of pride and joy celebrating the academic achievements of selected 5th through 8th grade ALA! Coach Ruta adds that HFGS believes that a good solid education plays a vital role in building a bright future for Holy Family Grade School’s young adolescents’ life academically, spiritually, and socially. Therefore, HFGS continues to be committed to offering a well-balanced atmosphere providing for a child’s academic, physical, moral, and spiritual development. The significant undertakings in HFGS – Academic League are absolutely powered by both home and school collaboration. The pastoral leadership of Fr. Jim Bevacqua, Dr. Suelto, Vice-Principals, faculty, and parents support the on-going mission of nurturing the school’s faith and its pursuit of academic excellence. Assistant Coach Jared Soliman shared that in the last 5 months, HFGS – ALA (Academic League and Ambassadors) team met in person for at least three hours each week. Students were given different tasks in every session, such as reviewing for International Academic Contests and Catholic Math League exams, designing reflective art pieces from the Social Science readings and researches, and completing questions on IXL. In math specifically, students were given four assessments well above grade level to challenge their academic abilities. This after-school program tested against other schools from various states nationwide. In addition to in-person sessions, students were given tasks to complete asynchronously to promote their independent learning through IXL, answering over 122,762 questions in total!
