Mrs. Cheryl Lopez

Hello Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School year!

I’m happy to be back for my fourth year as Band Director at Holy Family. I had a great time last year meeting students and their families, as well as working with such a supportive group of faculty and staff.

I had a blast watching the band students improve their performance skills on their instruments through diligent practice, but the most rewarding of all was watching the students strengthen friendships and make lifelong memories together.

I hold both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Loma Linda University, as well as a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Performance from Cal State University, Northridge. I maintain an active freelance career playing flute professionally in symphony orchestras, chamber music concerts, and as a soloist. I am a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) and maintain a private flute teaching studio with students of all ages. I also work as a Flute Clinician at local middle schools and high schools.

Students: Would you like to be in the HFGS Band? We’re currently looking for more members for all sections!

In band you can learn to play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument. No prior experience is necessary. In class we work on learning proper tone production, fundamental rhythms, learning music notation and note reading. We also work on performance etiquette and new concert literature to prepare for our performances at the Parish Country Fair, Christmas and Spring concerts, as well as any other performance opportunities that arise. All while having loads of fun, OF COURSE!

I am excited to start the new school year and create beautiful music with the Holy Family Grade School Band.

Band class meets after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:15-4:50.

The best way to get hold of me is via email at [email protected] Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful school year!
