Mrs. Marietta Rogers

Mrs. Roogers 2014 Revised

Dear Parents,

A warm welcome to you all! I hope this finds you and your family healthy and enjoying your summer.

My name is Marietta Rogers and I am your child’s Transitional Kinder teacher. This will be Holy Family Grade School’s sixth year with the TK program, which continues to have a very successful run. I am very excited and eagerly looking forward to this year’s set of TKers. The TK’s theme this year is “The School of Learners.” They will learn together just as a school of fish swims together.

The TK program will provide the youngest kindergartners with a “readiness year that is developmentally appropriate and will better prepare them for success once they enter traditional Kindergarten” (California Kindergarten Association). The CKA’s Four E’s of the TK Program are: Exploration, Exposure, Experience, and Expression.

I will spend a great deal of time with your child in the upcoming school year and I feel privileged to be working with your precious little learners. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself—both personally and professionally.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree and have taken post graduate studies in Management from the University of the Philippines. I have nine years of teaching experience in the Religious Education Program of Holy Family Parish. This is my eighteenth school year here at Holy Family Grade School, eleven of which I taught fifth grade. I have a Master’s Degree in Education with focus in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Irvine, CA. I am a certified Catechist and am currently working towards other teaching credentials. I have, since the very first year, pursued teaching not only as a profession, but more so as a vocation…a ministry. Indeed a calling!

I will be working closely with Mrs. Nelson, our Kindergarten teacher, as well as with you as a parent – after all, you are the most important person in your child’s life. We need to work together as partners in his/her learning to ensure more success for this program. I will keep you informed about your child’s progress. I sincerely hope that you communicate regularly with me, as I have always been a supporter of parent-teacher communication. With school and home working together, I know your child will have a successful year of fun and learning.

God Bless,

Mrs. Marietta Rogers, M.A.Ed.
