Mrs. Cheryl Lopez

Hello Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School year at Holy Family Grade School!

It is my first year teaching here at Holy Family Grade School, and I’m excited to meet and work with you all as your new Band teacher.

Shortly after obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, I felt a burning desire to pursue Music Performance. Performing always gave me a sense of fulfillment and a sense of purpose, so I made a career change and obtained a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Performance from Cal State University, Northridge. I’ve been in love with my job ever since, and have maintained an active freelance career playing in symphony orchestras, operas, musicals, chamber music concerts, and being a solo recitalist for the last 10 years. I am an active member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) and maintain an active private flute teaching studio with students of all ages. I also work as a Flute Clinician at local middle schools and high schools.

I can’t wait to share my love of music with my Band class. We will focus on fundamentals like proper tone production, fundamental rhythms, learning music notation and note reading. We will also work on performance etiquette and new concert literature to prepare for our Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts, as well as any other performance opportunities that arise.

Band class meets after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:15-4:50.

Please feel free to contact me via email at CLopez@hfgsglendale.org if you have any questions throughout the year.

Warmly,
Mrs. Cheryl Lopez
